Sari Silk With Textured wool Square Hand-Knotted Oriental Sample Rug
Adorn your house style with this splendid Pure Silk Ivory, is an original Sample oriental rug. This special item has been knotted for several weeks in the centuries-old traditional weaving craftsmanship techniques by expert artisans.
The first way one normally finds silk in a rug is as a “highlight” or “silk touch”. This will be seen in very high knot count traditional rugs typically. The silk is used in very small amounts throughout the design to highlight, add an extra dimension, and/or pop to the design. The second way silk is incorporated into a handmade wool rug sometimes is when an entire element of a rug or color is done in silk. This is seen in both modern as well as traditional rugs. A design element, for instance a flower or bird, could be entirely carved out in silk within the rug. This design sometimes will also be depressed or raised (have a higher and lower pile) besides being done in silk so it will stand out even more within the rug.
Sari Silk is a unique yarn derived from recycled silk saris and embroideries. The yarn is put under a rigorous treatment and handspun to create a new silky fine yarn that is thick and great for the pile of rugs. Rugs with a sari silk pile with even a simple design will be complex, as the pile has a unique abrash with many colorways throughout creating a charming overall look.
Guaranteed to be a genuine hand knotted oriental rug.
Note :Dear 1800getarug Customer, Please be advised that the package size does not reflect the rugs actual size as many times it is folded and then rolled in order to meet FedEx and UPS shipping regulations. We have made every effort to display the colors of our rugs as accurate as possible. But the colors may vary depending on your monitor type and the illumination levels of your space.
WASHING AND FINISHING
The entire rug is put throught the process called binding and trimming, then it is washed and dried several times for vibrancy and sheen. The rug is laid flat on the ground, then fresh water is poured over it. The rug washers then use a wood plank, sharpened on one edge, to force the water through the rug pile. This removes impurities picked up during the creation process.
No backing is needed for a hand-knotted rug. The final steps include quality inspection of size, pile height and shearing. It is important to notice that each weaver or group of weavers adds personality to the new rug, no two rugs are ever the same and all of our handmade rugs are one-of-a-kind.
