An oriental rug will gain value over the years if it remains in good condition. It is not uncommon for hand-knotted area rugs to become high priced auction items. This is only possible with good care.
One of the most important things in caring for a rug is keeping it clean. Regular vacuuming is always good, however not enough. It is recommended to have them professionally cleaned every 3 to 5 years depending the amount of traffic.

The Restoration Process: Persian Kerman Rug Fringe Renewal
Before: The original fringe is worn down to the pile. This is dangerous; once the fringe (the warp strings) disappears, the rug's knotted pattern will easily unravel.
After (Aesthetics): A fresh, uniform new fringe is attached. It lays perfectly flat, framing the rug and restoring its elegance.
After (Structure): The underside reveals a bound edge, locking the foundation safely in place and preventing future unraveling, looking natural.
The Restoration Process
Before: A large, severe hole left both the surface yarn and the underlying structural foundation completely missing or frayed.
During: We rebuilt the rug's foundation from the back, weaving new warp and weft threads across the gap to create a sturdy grid.
After: Our weaver hand-knotted color-matched yarns into the new foundation, perfectly recreating the pattern and making the repair invisible.
The Restoration: Re-knotting Process
Before: This surface damage is typically caused by moth activity or severe friction, rather than a physical tear through the rug.
During: Our weaver meticulously recreates the pattern by tying individual knots of brightly colored yarn directly into the exposed foundation threads.
After: The seamless repair is finished by matching the intricate geometric border and field, then shearing the newly tied yarn to the exact height of the surrounding pile. The damaged spot completely vanishes.
The Tear Repair Process
Before (Back): A large, jagged tear cuts straight through the rug's structural foundation. Our weaver painstakingly sews it back together, ensuring the structural grid is tight and secure so the rug will lay flat again.
After (Front): The intricate geometric and floral patterns are beautifully aligned. By securely closing the foundation and expertly blending the front pile, our weaver has made the massive tear virtually invisible, saving the rug from a total loss.
